How are you doing with Outcome 2?

Outcome 2 is all about Stress Management. We looked at why it's so important for employers to pay attention to workplace stress - one its a legislative requirement under Management of Health and Safety regulations and Health and Safety at Work Act, and secondly, it costs them a lot! Stress leads to poorer workplace performance, a rise in absenteeism (and presenteeism) and an increase in conflict so it's in management's interest to work to reduce stress. Workers also want to improve their ability to cope with stress as it can have such an impact on their health, work-life balance and general well-being. You will need to consider the causes of stress (stressors which can be both internal and external), the effects of stress (on the organisation and for individuals), review theories of stress (Fight or Flight, General Adaption Syndrome). A couple of sites to research are: Health and Safety Executive pages on Stress International Stress Management Association Your assessment task is uses the Turner case study and requires you to research and identify the key requirements for stress management and (i) prepare a report on your findings for Senior Management. This should include references to sources. It is expected that this report will be laid out in formal style and be no more than 1500 words in length. This should be submitted via email to your tutor by 23 February 2015. You must complete a statement confirming authenticity and cite all sources used. (ii) Prepare a presentation that will be used for training call centre staff. This will be presented to your tutor at a pre-agreed time and date. You will receive feedback on your performance which should kept for use when reviewing and evaluating your personal effectiveness at the end of the unit. The presentation will take place in the remaining 3 weeks of this Block, we will have a Presentation workshop next Monday and I plan to agree dates/times then. Please note that it is essential that you attend classes!
